
Syracuse, NY – April 14, 2026 — The Bhutanese Community in Syracuse (BCS) received a special message of recognition from New York State Governor Kathy Hochul in honor of the Nepali New Year celebration held in Syracuse.

The official greeting was presented to BCS President Bikash Regmi by Tracy DiGenova, Central New York Regional Representative from the Office of Governor Kathy Hochul. The letter acknowledged the contributions of the Bhutanese community and commended BCS for its ongoing efforts in promoting cultural pride, community service, and civic engagement.

President Bikash Regmi expressed deep gratitude and pride in receiving the recognition on behalf of the community. He thanked Governor Hochul for her thoughtful message and continued support.

In his remarks, President Regmi stated, “The New Year inspires us to move forward with renewed commitment—to serve, to lead, and to uplift one another. It is a time to set new goals, embrace new opportunities, and continue building a stronger, more united community.”

He also extended heartfelt appreciation to the BCS Board members and volunteers whose dedication made the event a success. The celebration drew more than 250 attendees, reflecting the strength and unity of the community. President Regmi also acknowledged the exceptional efforts of BCS Event Director Bikash Subedi and Vice President/Program Manager Santi Gautam for their leadership in organizing the event. In addition, he recognized BCS Media Coordinator Ajaya Sapkota for capturing beautiful and memorable moments that will be cherished by the community.

The event was further enriched by a special musical performance from popular singer Prabisha Adhikari, who added vibrant energy and cultural flavor to the celebration.

Vice President Santi Gautam shared that one of the primary goals of organizing the event was to educate younger generations about their culture and traditions. She emphasized that the New Year provides an important opportunity to reconnect with cultural roots, strengthen identity, and pass on values to the next generation.President Regmi further thanked the NepX team and sponsors for their support in making the event memorable and impactful.
